Resilient I/O: 2021 Resolved

Noom

Noom is an app for iOS and Android that’s helping some of our team reach their health and fitness goals, as we enter 2021 with a growth mindset, fueled by enthusiasm and optimism for what this new year can bring. Noom will help you track your nutrition, hit your exercise goals, and the app will teach you about the psychology of motivation, eating, exercising, and more. If you’re looking to focus on your health and wellbeing in 2021, we strongly recommend you consider downloading Noom, which is a team favorite bit of tech for helping us keep our New Year’s Resolutions.

From the Team

“I love how the first thing you do when you start with Noom is tell the app what you already know about yourself and how you tend to find motivation. You get the sense that the program is really tailored to you, so you get the benefits of personalization, without having to work everything out with a trainer or nutritionist. My partner and I are both using the app, and we’ve noticed differences in the suggested strategies and information presented to motivate us through different challenges.

My other favorite thing that’s been really different from other apps I’ve used to track my nutrition and exercise is the way the Noom courses help you learn about yourself and the psychology of eating and exercising. I’ve found the courses very helpful for shifting my perspective on things I’ve always struggled with, while forming a better attitude and healthier habits, and I’m already seeing results!”

From the Developer

“At the core of your Noom journey is our psychology-based weight loss course, a series of 10 mini-courses that you can complete at your own pace. Every mini-course will help you gain specific knowledge, tools, and skills that will help you change your habits, lose weight, and make progress far beyond the scale.

To set you up for success, your course also includes state-of-the-art tools:

  • Food logging with over 1 million food items in our food database and 1 million scannable barcodes

  • Over 1,000 interactive lessons

  • A 1:1 coaching experience with personalized goal setting

  • Hundreds of simple, healthy recipes

  • Unlimited group support

  • Water tracking feature to help you stay hydrated

We'll help you ditch the idea of "good" foods and "bad" foods and develop a healthier relationship with food. Spoiler alert: It doesn't involve skipping meals, eating salads all day, or cutting carbs (unless you're slicing a sandwich).

And we'll also cover lots of other fun topics like the psychology of weight loss, mindful eating, joyful movement, the science of metabolism, the 10 types of hunger, self-experimentation, emotional health, decision making, self care, and so much more!”
